World Environment Day 2026

To mark World Environment Day 2026, GIRD in collaboration with Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan (AAA), conducted a multi-dimensional initiative featuring a grassroots awareness camp at the Yamuna Plains, a Swachhta & Climate Action Rally near Mayur Vihar Phase-1 Metro Station, and an academic technical seminar on carbon emission reductions. The event featured the formal launch of a public guidebook titled “Carbon Emissions & Green Energy: A Public Guide for a Sustainable Future” and adopted a 10-point community action plan for climate mitigation.

Green Institute for Research & Development

GREEN INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (GIRD) is a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

Established in 1996, GIRD works for the protection of environment and promotion of environment-friendly products and practices. Recognizing an essential conflict between the protection of environment and the developmental needs of the people, we also undertake programmes for socio-economic development of the disadvantaged sections of the people, particularly in the areas of education, health and nutrition, housing, sanitation and economic empowerment and advocate sustainable developmental goals.

Empowering Girl Students and Women of Poor Socio-Economic Background in Ballimaran Area of Old Delhi

With the CSR support from Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), we have launched a significant programme aimed at empowering girls students and women of disadvantaged background in the Ballimaran area of Old Delhi. This initiative directly benefitted about 2500 girl students by improving the learning environment in their schools and 100 women by providing them sewing machines for their self-employment.

GIRD RELIEF WORK DURING LANDSLIDES IN WAYANAD

When entire villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, and Punjirimattom were completely destroyed by the massive landslides that occurred in the early hours of July 30, 2024 in Wayanad,

GIRD volunteers sprang into action to help people who were displaced from their homes and villages to temporary relief camps. We also arranged and provided food and other essential items to them.
