With the CSR support from Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), we have launched a significant programme aimed at empowering girls students and women of disadvantaged background in the Ballimaran area of Old Delhi. This initiative directly benefitted about 2500 girl students by improving the learning environment in their schools and 100 women by providing them sewing machines for their self-employment.
GIRD in association with Centre of Excellence in Unani Medicine, Jamia Hamdard, Delhi will be organizing a National Seminar on this subject in the Month of January 2026.

Background
Evidence based incorporation of Indian traditional medicine in clinical practice is considered a useful strategy to ensure essential quality healthcare for all. This is because a large number of people have not benefitted from the achievements and progress made by the modern medical science on account of their high costs. Currently, many factors such as pollution, environmental toxins and unhealthy lifestyle have increased the risk of diseases and new diseases like viral infections are emerging leading to compromise in immunity. Besides, modern allopathic medicines are known to have serious side effects. For these reasons, to achieve the global health policy goal of “health for all” set by international organisatons like the UN and WHO, scientific integration of traditional medicines into the healthcare practices and dispensations is is an acknowledged and felt necessity.
