About GIRD

Green Institute for Research and Development (GIRD)

is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working since 1996 with the motto “Protecting the Earth and Advancing Life”. Registered under the Societies Registration Act, we work across India with a dual mission of promoting a healthy natural environment and advancing sustainable human development for the socially and economically disadvantaged.

In collaboration with our valued corporate partners under their CSR initiatives and with support from various government agencies, GIRD undertakes high-impact grassroots projects across diverse domains including environment protection, climate action, human resource development, women empowerment, health, education, food aid, disaster relief, safe drinking water, digital literacy and sustainable livelihoods. Each intervention is designed to be community-centric, scalable and sustainable, ensuring that benefits reach the most marginalized sections of society.

At GIRD, we strive to bridge the gap between knowledge, policy and grassroots action. Through research, advocacy, capacity building and direct welfare interventions, we are committed to building a greener, healthier, more equitable and self-reliant nation where ecological security and human dignity go hand in hand.
