GIRD support for young Indian scientists to participate in the Sakura Science Exchange Programm of Japan

GIRD supported young Indian scientists from disadvantaged sections to participate in the Sakura Science Exchange Programme of Japan in December 2023. GIRD Secretary and Director, Mr. Shamsuddeen A.K. visited Japan in December 2023 and interacted with the students participating in this programme and concerned officials in Japan and the Indian Embassy in Japan.

SAKURA Science Exchange Programme was initiated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to invite high school students from Asian countries to visit Japanese universities and research laboratories and also interact with Nobel laureates. India was included in this programme in 2015. DST and Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) implement this programme from India.
