About GIRD

GREEN INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (GIRD) is a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered under
the Societies Registration Act (Act No. XXI of 1860)

Established in 1996, GIRD works for the protection of environment and promotion of environment-friendly products and practices. Recognizing an essential conflict between the protection of environment and the developmental needs of the people, we also undertake programmes for socio-economic development of the disadvantaged sections of the people, particularly in the areas of education, health and nutrition, housing, sanitation and economic empowerment and advocate sustainable developmental goals.

GIRD is a registered Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 since 1996 vide Registration No.S-29714 of 1996.

We are registered with the Niti Ayog of India with unique id of DL/2017/0151035

We are approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India under Foreign Contribution(Regulation) Act with Registration No. 231660777.

We are registered with the Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, for undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Activities (Registration No. CSR00028209

We work with the motto of ‘Protecting the Earth and Advancing Life’.

We visualize a society where all members are enabled to maximize their potential to avail of the opportunities for advancement in life and a world full of opportunities for all to sustain harmony and peaceful co-existence. Environmentally sustainable development for all is our core vision.

GIRD is presently led by its Director and Secretary Mr. Shamsuddeen A.K. and President, Mr. Hareendran Achari.

GIRD is guided by an Advisory Body consisting of eminent personalities from different fields.

Our team consists of passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds, including environmental science, engineering, policy-making, and community outreach. Each member brings their unique expertise and perspective to contribute to our mission of creating a secure and greener future.

With their knowledge and experience, our team collaborates on various projects aimed at addressing pressing environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion. Through research initiatives, educational programs, and advocacy campaigns, we strive to raise awareness about these challenges and inspire action at both local and global levels.
