WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2025
The World Environment Day is celebrated world over every year on 5 June to create awareness about the need for nurturing our planet with care, protecting its precious resources, and uniting humanity in the shared responsibility of leaving behind a greener, healthier world for generations to come.
In a vibrant demonstration of environmental stewardship and community spirit, the GIRD and the Indian Society for Literacy Development (ISLD) jointly organized a World Environment Day program on 5 June 2025 at Mother Dairy Park, Mehrauli, Delhi.
The event featured an impactful tree plantation drive and distribution of saplings.
The program was supported by the National Medicinal Plants Board, which provided a variety of medicinal plant saplings. Shri KP Hareendran Achari, President of both GIRD and ISLD, and Shri AK Shamshudeen, Secretary of GIRD, led the program. It saw enthusiastic participation from residents. Notable attendees included Shri RK Popli, President of the Senior Citizen Association, Mehrauli, and Shri Nirmal Singh, General Secretary of the Ekta Resident Welfare Association, Mehrauli. This effort by GIRD and ISLD underscored their commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement, inspiring collective action towards a sustainable tomorrow.
